Susan Reimer has now returned from her trip to Malawi where she visited four schools, she took the opportunity to present the schools with some skip-hop skipping ropes and also took the time to show them how to use them!
'We were able to teach two groups at the largest school - the second group were selected from the older grades for the purpose of teaching the younger ones later. Some of them will also take ropes to the other 3 schools to teach.
The children were very enthusiastic jumpers! A couple of them even managed a bit of Double Dutch. For the single rope jumping - both long and short - the hardest part was teaching them the double bounce! The language barrier made it even more difficult - hence my very dramatic body language! All in all though, it was a huge success. Thank you again for your fantastic generosity.
I'm now in the middle of arranging student sponsorships - (secondary school in Malawi isn't free and remains out of reach for most young people) - so it was a very fruitful time. I hope to go again in a couple months to check on the students - and of course the skipping.' Susan Reimer A village where some of the school children come from, no big smiles yet but of course they have not yet discovered skipping! In the classroom. The children settle down for lessons. Susan presents one of the schools with some skip-hop skipping ropes. Some basic individual skipping skills are learned. Everyone has to start somewhere! ' The language barrier made it even more difficult - hence my very dramatic body language! All in all though, it was a huge success. Thank you again for your fantastic generosity.' Susan Reimer The art of long rope skipping is mastered by this young student Of course the girls show that anything the boys can do, they can do too. . Susan teaches some of the older children how to turn double dutch ropes so that they can take these new skills to share with the younger children. I Love it! This fantastic shot the double dutch skipping is shown to be be a huge success! At skip-hop we were delighted to receive these wonderful photographs from Susan. It is so great to see the children enjoying their skipping. We look forward to getting an update in a couple of months and finding out how those skipping skills are coming along.
