skipping rhymes

Skipping rhymes are a fantastic way to bring a extra dimension to skipping. skip-hop have compiled some of the best that we have come across and catagorised them in the above sections. Skipping rhymes are mainly used in long rope skipping where they bring an additional level of interactivity to make the inclusion of a larger group more fun. Further more the skipping rhymes can bring an additional educational benefit to your skipping activity with counting rhymes, alphabet rhymes and rhymes enouraging more complex movements. This added complexity is great for developing brains!

If you know of any skipping rhymes that we have not include in this list that you think should be then please let us know or why not write your own skipping rhyme and submit to skip-hop for inclusion on these pages.

This one from J Burt of Crockham Hill CEP which is the first contribution to our submitted skipping rhyme section

Granny's in the Kitchen,
Granny's in the kitchen,
Doing some stitching,
in comes the Bogey Man
and chases Granny out.

(On the word out the first skipper (Granny) jumps out and the second skipper (Bogey Man) jumps in. This can be played continuously as Granny can run around the turners and rejoin the line.)

This skipping rhyme was sent in by Katie from St.Mary's N.G.S
