national curriculum
The personal, social and health education or PSHE curriculum encourages pupils to attain knowledge, understanding and skills in the following areas:

  • developing confidence and responsibility and making the most of their abilities
  • preparing to play an active role as citizens
  • developing a healthy, safer lifestyle
  • developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people.
Skipping gives children the opportnuity to learn and develop an extremely beneficial form of exercise that they can use both in and out of school. Schools that have had skip-hop workshops have commented on the positive impact that skipping has had in the playground and of the confidence boost that it gives to children who perhaps do not excel in other areas of school life.

skip-hop coaches can also provide training for selected children to become playground mentors to lead skipping activities with other children in the playground.
