For ten years skip-hop have been working in Ireland delivering workshops in schools. This year for the first time skip-hop are working in Ireland in support of the Irish Heart Foundation with a percentage of every workshop and every rope sold in Ireland going towards this worthy charity. Silver Olympic medallist boxer Kenny Egan helped launch the Irish Heart Foundation's annual Skipathon with pupils from Edenderry Boys National.
More than 600 primary schools all over the country will be taking part in Skipathon which runs from April 19 to 23 to help kids jump for heart and raise vital funds for the Irish Heart Foundation's children's programmes. For more see

The Skipathon is a fun programme for primary schools that has been promoting the benefits of physical activity for young people in Ireland since 1984.

Early participation in fun physical activity is vital for developing healthy lifestyle habits in later life. People who practice heart healthy lifestyle are less likely to suffer from heart disease.

If it isn't ideal for your school to run a Skipathon from April 19 to 23, then they can run it on another date. Please note that all entries must be in before the draw for prizes which takes place on May 24.

This year the top prize for taking part in Skipathon is a trip to Eurodisney for the lucky winner and two adults valued at N1,500. There are 5 BMX burner sports cycles and safety helmets to be won also.

You can also enter our Skipping Rhyme competition and be in with a chance to lead your provincial rugby team out onto the rugby pitch in Autumn 2010.

Skipathon raises vital funds for the Irish Heart Foundation, making a significant contribution to the funding of our children's health promotion programmes such as Action for Life , Bizzy Breaks and Get Kids on the Go (see back of brochure). Each school receives 10% of the funds raised for their own school projects. The Irish Heart Foundation is 90% funded by public donations.
